True Friend and North Star

I’ve been reading/listening to Suleika Jaouad’s “The Book of Alchemy” where she expounds on the profound relationship she has cultivated with journaling. I can so deeply relate as I’ve been journaling for about 50 years now. It has become my truest friend and north star. My companion, teacher, guide, spiritual master vehicle.

When my Mom died, who was a true soul mate, I didn’t know how I would survive. Yet through journaling I came to know of a new world where I could not only survive but thrive through my continued writing, of which she was my biggest fan. I even named my writing service after what she always said to me after hearing a piece of writing, “Oh Debbie, you have such a way with words….”.

So here’s to writing, the quintessential thread of life. As I continue to reflect on my inner growth and who I choose to travel with, I know that the words always come first, the path to the Divine, the blank page that holds my heart ever so reliably and tenderly …..

My friend recently wrote in response to world events:

This is not a time for easy answers, but it is a time for deep truths.

I will continue to find and scribe my deep truths. As I know that the truly personal becomes the universal.
