Each Moment We’re Alive ~ reflections on our first gala
As I tried to fall asleep last night after driving from Springfield, Massachusetts to my home in Connecticut, it was hard to settle down, moved as I was by the Rise Above Cancer Gala. I thought about the touches of pink in sparkly dresses and jewelry, reminding us of October’s nod to breast cancer awareness. About how moved I was to hear the beautiful nominations for and reflections from the warriors. What struck me as I listened to each honoree, was what they all had in common. Each of them in their unique way articulated how the journey was rough, how fortunate they were to be supported by loved ones, and grateful to have a resource like Each Moment We’re Alive as a soft place to land.
What stood out the most for me though, was how each and every one of them described the hope and belief that it would be okay on the other side of the rough waters of the cancer treatment journey. And how that hope and belief is what I think of as manifesting. That is what I have felt from Cindy Sheridan Murphy from the day I first met her all those years ago. And how that feeling has grown over the years I’ve seen Each Moment We’re Alive, Inc. grow.
Cindy has given me the most precious of gifts, bearing witness to her becoming the embodiment of manifesting healing purpose. She knew when she was one year out from her diagnosis and onset of intense treatments, just barely in remission, bald and emboldened, that in order for her healing to endure, she had to find a purpose. That purpose was to help others answer the very question she posed to herself, essentially “what now?” Or “what’s next?” And not just answer it, but live it with actual hand holding, determination and joy. And the fact that my song was in alignment was that purpose, was simply something out of the source of a miracle.
So as I sat amidst the glow of Cindy’s actualizing her first of many galas to come, I glowed from within to know that I was able to plant a seed for her to flower beyond anything I could have imagined. And that it will remain the dearest and most magical part of my life. Although the words came through me, there was a higher power helping me along.
So the message this month as highlighted so beautifully at the gala, is simply to live each moment we’re alive with inspiration and to help each other along the way as much as we can. Especially when we have those moments, those lapses of humanity when it is too easy to forget how precious it is to be alive!
Congratulations to the honorees and to Cindy and the Board of Directors for creating not only a night to remember, but a template for future celebrations of each moment we’re alive!
